Conflict of Interest Policy
The Journal of Sport Biomechanics is committed to maintaining the highest standards of transparency, integrity, and impartiality throughout the editorial and publication process. All participants involved in the publication process—including authors, reviewers, editors, and members of the Editorial Board—are expected to disclose any relationships or activities that could influence, or reasonably be perceived to influence, their professional judgment.
This policy has been developed with reference to internationally recognized recommendations on research integrity and publication ethics, including those of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Authors
Authors are responsible for disclosing any financial or non-financial relationships that could influence the design, conduct, analysis, interpretation, or reporting of their research.
Potential conflicts of interest may include, but are not limited to:
• Employment or institutional relationships
• Research grants or financial support
• Consultancy or advisory roles
• Honoraria or speaker fees
• Patents or intellectual property
• Stock ownership or financial investments
• Personal or professional relationships
• Academic competition or other competing interests
All sources of financial support must also be disclosed in the Funding section of the manuscript.
Every submitted manuscript must include a Conflict of Interest statement at the end of the manuscript.
If no competing interests exist, authors should include the following statement:
The authors declare no conflict of interest.
To promote transparency, the corresponding author is required to upload a completed ICMJE Disclosure Form for each author through the "Attachments" section of the online submission system before clicking "Finalize Your Paper Submission."
Reviewers
Reviewers should disclose any circumstances that may affect their ability to provide an objective and unbiased evaluation of a manuscript. Reviewers who identify a potential conflict of interest should decline the invitation to review or immediately inform the Editorial Office.
Reviewers must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents and must not use unpublished information for personal, professional, or financial benefit.
Editors
Editors and members of the Editorial Board are expected to perform their editorial responsibilities fairly, objectively, and independently.
Editors must not participate in editorial decisions regarding manuscripts in which they have financial, institutional, professional, or personal conflicts of interest. In such cases, responsibility for handling the manuscript will be assigned to another qualified editor.
Editorial decisions are based solely on the scientific quality, originality, ethical integrity, and relevance of the submitted work.
Disclosure and Transparency
Conflict of interest disclosures submitted by the authors may be published together with the article whenever considered appropriate by the Editorial Office.
Failure to disclose relevant competing interests may result in editorial action, including manuscript rejection, publication of a correction, or retraction of the published article when necessary to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.
